Kay and Rudi would like to welcome you to their garden. Designed with the help from N.Z. Landscape Architect, Ben McMaster, our 5 - acre property has been developed over 12 years.
The garden features four broad herbaceous borders sheltered by high hornbeam hedges and formal box-hedged rose beds linked by arches. Bay hedges enclose a potager garden and beyond, a small orchard is planted with various fruit trees. A natural creek meanders through the garden flowing into a large informal pond; the bank is planted with gunnera, iris, arum lilies and the red stemmed Cornus Siberica. A board walk leads you around the pond and through a native area.
Our most recent addition is a long formal pond planted with white, water lilies and enclosed with escallonia hedging.
The surrounding undulating farm landscape is inhabited by a menagerie of animals and birds including the family Border Collie “Jazz” and Burmese cat “Pico”.
Breedenbroek has featured on Canterbury TV “Homes and Gardens” programme, in the NZ Gardener, and NZ House & Garden magazines.
We personally guide guests around our garden and encourage you to stay and enjoy the tranquility. Upon request, home baked morning and afternoon tea or light lunches are available.
